Funny Writing // Writing Funny with Onyinye Odokoro, Demi Banwo, Martha Ehinome + more.
Humor has always been a tool for resistance. Through satire, politically engaged comedy, and even political cartoons, Africans have often turned to humour as a tool for making sense of socio-cultural concerns.
At our forthcoming programming, Funny Writing // Writing Funny, A Third Space looks into the place of humor in African socio-political consciousness through an evening of music, conversations and readings of satirical African writing.
This experience brings together works by African writers, including Elnathan John, Olakunle Ologunro and Ucheoma Onwuetuebe. Their pieces will be read live by actors Onyinye Odokoro (Baby Farm), Martha Ehinome (Wura) and Demi Banwo (Gangs of Lagos).
Funny Writing // Writing Funny will close out with a riveting conversation presented by Selar on humour as a tool of resistance between culture writers Dennis Ade Peter and Emmanuel Esomnofu, and a live music performance by Joyce Olong.
